I'll be visiting Austin next week for several days and bringing my 2 granddaughers ages 10 and 12. They have never been to Texas (my father's home state) nor met many of the relatives we will see at a memorial for 2 who passed away this year.

The girls would like to go horseback riding. We are staying in Bastrop, so would appreciate some help finding a place between Austin and Bastrop perhaps, that I could take them for riding.

I haven't been "back home" in many years and looking forward to the trip although I know it'll be hotter than heck!

You might want to check out Bear Creek Stables. They're not exactly between Bastrop and Austin, but they're south.

Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop has horseback riding. Don't know if it's available for people who aren't staying there, but you could call and find out.

Lost Pines is available for rides. There are also numerous ranches that have "trail rides" on weekends. I know the Bastrop Homecoming Rodeo will be coming up soon, but not sure on the dates.

Default Hyatt Regency Lost Pines offers horseback riding

You can ride on trails in the 1,100-acre McKinney Roughs Nature Preserve between Austin and Bastrop. Horseback riding is offered by White Lighting Ranch at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa, 512.308.1234.
