Our six year old daughter is interested in taking beginning horseback riding lessons either privately or in a group. Any recommended stables that are close to Austin (20-30 min drive max)?

Thank you!!!

Tanyagail,
Same with our 6 year old! Let me know if you find something close (we'll be coming from Steiner Ranch) and not too pricey!

Lindsey

Hey guys,

I know that Spicewood Country Day School does horseback riding as part of their summer camp program. You might want to contac them; they might be able to point you in the right direction (Lindsey, I sent you a PM about preschools and forgot to mention Spicewood Country Day).

here's their web link:

Thanks gigi927!

I did check out their website but they don't start lessons until age 7. Anyone heard of/had experience with Kali Kate horse riding lessons?

Lindseyrepp143, Kali Kate is in Buda so not sure how far from Steiner Ranch that would be for you? They claim to be 22 South of downtown Austin. You can check them out at: http://www.kali-kate.com/html/equestrian.html but they don't list age or rates on the site. I emailed them so will pass on the info when I get it.

Buda would be about 35-45 minutes from Steiner without traffic.

Take 620 East all the way across to I-35, turn south on the service road, turn left on Hester's crossing which is S. Mays on the east side of 35, turn right onto Gattis School Road. About two miles down that road on the left is a pretty good riding school, can't remember the name. Co-workers kids go there. There are several others farther down Gattis as well.

Default Horse back riding

I have a friend that owns a facility in Del Valle. It is called Rio Vista Farm and the website is riovistafarm.net. They take 6 year olds and have camp too.

Thanks,

Julie

I have a good friend who has their 6 y/o in lessons out at a place down 1826 (near the salt lick). If you are interested, I can get the details an PM you. She has been very happy with the lady who teaches.

That would be great, Trainwreck20! I would appreciate any info you have. Even just a website or contact info so I can get location and group lesson rates would be great.

Here is the contact info I was given:

Kellye Dearth
512-636-3120

I looked up this website, and this looks like the right one:
http://kdtrainingstables.com/index.html (broken link)

Btw, I have no idea what riding lessons cost, but it doesn't look like she is cheap .

edit: I just talked to my friend, and she says a set of 4 lessons is $100 ($25/lesson) for 10 and under.
