Hi! I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for horseback riding around the Austin area. I was looking for someone to take me and another person out for a scenic horseback ride. Any recommendations for a good ride with a good price? Thank you!

I think there is riding at McKinney Roughs Park. Not to far from here. Out past the airport near Bastrop I believe.

Default Austin Horseback Riding

Austin Equestrian Center - 512-233-6700
Colbert Ranch - 512-355-3225
Golden Vista Equestrian Center - 512-243-3500
Silver Trails - 512-577-4791

McKinney Roughs Park near Bastrop is for day use only.
For $10 you can ride the trails but must furnish your own horse.

Do you know if those are all "nose-to-tail" trail rides? Or will they let you trot & gallop?

Thanks.

Hi Austinite118

Dit you find an nice ridingplace?
I am from the Netherlands and going on vacation to Texas next week.
I am an experienced (reining) rider and also looking for a nice place to go riding in Texas
I thought the Austin area would be nice.
We also travel to Dallas and Houston.
So do you (or anybody else) have some tips for me?

Thanks a lot

Greetings
Cookys

You could also try down near Bandera. There are dude ranches down there, and some ranches that abut Hill Country State Natural Area and will take you on guided trail rides in the park (some 5,000+ acres of riding trails).

As for galloping, that varies according to the stables and their insurance company. And their analysis of your riding skills. Having worked at a stables, you'd be surprised how many people exaggerate their ability, to the detriment of the horses.

Thaks you all !
I am now back in the Netherlands after a great holiday in Texas :-)
Alas we did not have enough time to go horseback riding.
But now we have a good reason to come back again soon :-)
And I will keep all your references in mind (isnt the internet great?!)

Thanks again!

Greetings
Jennefer
