Doh! now I'm hungry :-(
When I was growing up on the Texas Gulf Coast we had wild blackberries growing in our backyard. We called them "dewberries" and they were really big too. As a teenager in Clear Lake I used to go to Challenger Park and pick them. They were everywhere out there. I don't see them wild like that around Central Texas. Maybe the climate not being humid enough is a factor?

first of all, congrats on the move stoop!

... I just have to add though, having spent some time in seattle myself... Seattle flat out sucks, 1 out of 10, worst place ive ever lived...

I grew up in california myself, went to college in AZ, then moved to Seattle for my first job for 1.5 years. I kidd you not, the SECOND i drove into that city I was depressed (not exaggerating in the least). The city is dull, dingy, and cramped with a lousy layout. You have to drive everywhere to do ANYthing. People are smug and uninviting (if you are the hermit type who interacts little with people though, Seattle might be your place!). The weather lives up to the stigma... extremely depressing... litterally stretches of 1-2 months of no sun, just dull grey skies and half the time it didnt even rain or do anything (if its going to be cloudy, atleast do something!). ugh... i dont even want to think about it. Such a depressing part of the country to live.... visiting IS different though, it is a beautiful city to visit in summer, but living there is an ENTIRELY different story! It takes a very certain type of person to pull it off...

i can say that Austin is a fantastic city! I live in Southern california now, but have been to Austin numerous times for work and visiting some friends who live there near lake travis. great place!
