A few friends and I were wanting to go there tomorrow, but with this drought, the thought occurred that it might be too down to really be enjoyable. Has anyone been there recently who can attest?

I have not, but since it is spring fed, I am pretty sure that it is fine - similar to Barton Springs, which I have been to recently and it was fine.

Might want to give them a call. Last summer, DW took folks out there twice to find it closed. Krause Springs was the fallback and everyone enjoyed it.
From the Hamilton Pool site:
  • Swimming is periodically prohibited due to high bacteria levels in the pool, and a heavy rain will typically close the pool to swimming for a week or so. Nesting cliff swallows contribute to high bacteria levels in the early summer. Swim at your own risk (when swimming is allowed). There are no lifeguards on duty. For updated swimming conditions please call (512) 264-2740 before you come.
In any event, I think you'll find some crowds .

The football game is late; so some folks might also be looking to cool off!

I went in mid August and the pool was as normal, there was even a trickle going on the waterfall. Water was great and cool, maybe 75-78 degrees.

Thanks guys. It turns out the pool stays at a pretty constant level because it's spring-fed despite there being only a trickle of a waterfall. It's an awesome way to spend an afternoon if you haven't been before.
