I am moving to Austin in August from Louisiana and will be buying a house in Steiner Ranch. My office is located next to the IKEA off 35 in Round Rock. Any recommendations on the best route to take for my commute.

Thanks

I was told to avoid 35 as it is usually the worst road for congestion. Was I given bad information?

No I35 does stink but I am not aware of a quicker route. Where 620 meets I35 you don't have far to go. You could stick to the Frontage road of 35.

I just checked mapquest and it agrees with me.

There are .16 miles between your starting location and the beginning of your driving directions. Use maps to get from your starting location to the beginning of your route.
1: Start out going NORTHWEST on STEINER RANCH BLVD toward N QUINLAN PARK RD. 0.3 miles Map

2: Turn RIGHT onto N QUINLAN PARK RD. 1.6 miles Map

3: Turn RIGHT onto RR 620 N / FM 620 N. Continue to follow RR 620 N. 15.8 miles Map

4: Turn LEFT onto N I-35. 0.4 miles Map

5: Turn RIGHT onto W PALM VALLEY BLVD / US-79 N. 2.2 miles Map

There are .16 miles between your ending location and the end of your driving directions. Use maps to get from your ending location to the end of your route.
6: End at Round Rock, TX 78664, US

I know there is a toll road that lands you over by the dell Diamond on 79, but I am not sure which toll raod that is. Someone else here probably will.

You could take 620 to Parmer, then N to 1431 and go right over to IKEA....

That's probably the best route. The toll road doesn't go out by Steiner, I don't think. But in RR, you can get off by Louis henna then take 35 or the 35 feeder. But that seems longer than what newrrmom said. I've been that way, and it's not too bad traffic wise, plus you'd be running against traffic anyway.

620 to 183N to 45 to 35

35N wont be bad at all since it is counter traffic.

I would take 620 to the new 45 toll road (620 meets 45 toll road right at Lakeline Mall). Exit 45 toll road to I-35 north and take it up to Ikea.

I live in River Place and just did that drive mid-day and it took me 30 minutes, it should take you 35 minutes or so in no traffic. If you're leaving around during normal commute times, I'd add 10-20 minutes as 620 can get really backed up.

What did your commute become? Time-wise and route-wise? We are considering a move this August.
