I am very interested in Steiner Ranch but am worried about the commute to Dell. Is anyone making this drive on a daily basis? What is it like in good/bad/avg traffic? Is it worth it?

Thanks!

I don't make the trip daily, but I live in Steiner. It's probably about 30 minutes. You are going in the opposite direction of most commuters, so traffic isn't too bad. And the 45 Toll Road really does speed things up.

Which Campus, Round Rock, or the Parmer South Campus? That does matter. I drive daily to a location very close to the Parmer South Campus, and it takes me about 35 minutes average when school is in session, and about 28 minutes when school is not in session.

By school session, I mean the neighborhood schools, and UT. It seems when summer break is active for all schools, traffic is definitely less.

Oh, and to answer your other question, yes, it's worth it. We love it here.

We live in Bee Cave, and my husband has to drive to Dell quite often as it's one of his customers and the drive is usually 40-45 minutes. Steiner is about 20 minutes from us, so that would leave you about 20-25 minutes to get to Dell, but if you're further back within the community, it could take you 10 minutes just to get out to 620.

Default 620 is a nightmare

I use to drive to another location right next to the Round Rock facility from Steiner Ranch.
The 'worst' part of the drive was 620 itself.
Lots of lights/traffic when school is in.

When school is out, it will be less than 30 minutes.

My neighbour, who works at the Round Rock campus, says it takes him around 30 minutes from Steiner.
He leaves around 7:15AM...to avoid the school rush.

Thanks everyone. I am really on the fence. 25-30 mins is kind of my limit for a daily commute and it sounds like Steiner is right there. I also like Canyon Creek which is a little closer, but I really prefer Steiner.

For what it's worth, we looked at several homes in Canyon Creek while under contract in Steiner, but we had a contingency so we could get our Ernest Deposit back if need be. For us, it came down to the neighborhood is just so beautiful, and really convenient to Lake Austin and Lake Travis.

There is also so much to do in the neighborhood, with "Neighborhood Sports" leagues for all ages. The Steiner Stars swim team is up to three teams now because of the number of kiddos signing up, but they find a way to expand. The hiking and biking trails are great too.

I will be back to a commute to the Round Rock campus soon, and know a few short cuts which should get me there in about the same amount of time as now, and I don't even think 25-35 minutes is long anymore.
