Lol...if we're going down this path, why don't they just put up a new Piggly Wiggly?

I find it shocking you believe MCG would ever associate with IGA. Especially when they didn't even want the city to sell the land to Walmart Market. But somehow, you believe the old Food Lion shopping center on South Belair road could attract Trader Joes..

The even more strange thing about your comment is IGA doesn't have any new stores in the metro besides their KJ Market brand in Hephzibah and Grovetown.
I'm simply pointing out the more plausible scenarios than say a Trader Joes which isnt even in the CSRA, if you dont like me voicing my opinion to bad.

I'm looking forward to seeing how big this project will be; 25 acres is a lot of land for an intown site, so I could see a few hundred residential units and several thousand square feet of retail and restaurant space.

25 acres? Just big enough for a joint 12,000 seat venue with Augusta University and would sit on its campus grounds.

For the record I doubt it would happen. It would be such a waste of land near the medical district.

It'll be funny to see the spin if MCG plows it down and builds a parking deck. They're planning to get rid of two MAJOR parking areas right in the middle of the medical campus in their grand scheme, and all those people are gonna have to park somewhere.

That doesn't preclude there also being a grocery store there as well, the land is more than big enough to have a grocery store with a parking deck below it.
