Hello Everyone,

I am a single mother of 3 children and I'm planning to relocate to the Atlanta area by August of 2010. I would like information on the best places in the Atlanta area to raise kids as a single parent (Stone Mountain, Decatur, Marietta, Duluth, East Point, etc). I am looking to rent preferably a townhome (3br) or a house (rents range from $700-$900 per month) close to shopping or atleast a Walmart. Also, I want to move to an area that offers alot of recreational activities for kids. I would like information on good public schools for my children to attend or private schools that offer tuition scholarships. I am also considering taking online classes, so information on online or technical schools would be great as well. All of your help will be greatly appreciated. I have started researching areas online but would love to hear from people that already live in the area.

Thank You

I happened to read your blog and I see you are also looking for employment as well. I don't want to rain on your plans, but please please do not move here without a job. This market is tough even for people with years of experience, degrees, certifications, etc.

Unless your savings and/pockets are very deep (meaning can sustain you and your family for a minimum of a year) this is not the time to move to Atlanta or anywhere with out a job first. There is no gravy train or land of milk and honey here in the Peach State.

Please consider looking on line first for job opportunities and applying online. If the prospective employers are interested they will schedule an interview and you can come into town for that.

A couple a months ago a co-worker of mine told me that Atlanta Gas Light was hiring for customer service reps. Check out their website and see if that job posting is still open.
Whatever you decide to do or wherever you may end up relocating, please have a firm job offer in hand before moving.

Good luck to you

She did NOT say that she is looking for employment. However, I am sure your tip is appreciated.

Granted the post does not mention employment needs however, the only reason I mentioned a job is because the OP does have a blog and there is a mention looking for employment in the blog. Usually employment status comes up when one is looking to relocate as it does help when trying to help others in their relocation. Thank you for you pointing it out to me.
