Who could object to that?

It isn't 1920 and none of the people in N Fulton now were alive then. You're argument is kind of stale. Things change.

Yes, this isn't 1920 so no one living in North Fulton were alive when it was Milton. By your logic, they moved into Fulton County, so why not ask for a new county with a new name. They use Milton County mantra as if it was a move back to the glory days, which it wasn't.

It was 1932 when Milton came into Fulton, and they were in disastrous shape. It's likely that a lot of people who were alive then are still around today. Certainly many of their children and grandchildren have benefited mightily from the association. Milton didn't get on its feet until recently and even today the population is less than 4% of Fulton County.

Say you had taken in some straggler and tended and cared for them for 60 years. How would you feel if they suddenly up and said, "You have been taking too much of my money lately, so I'm leaving and not paying you back anything and I don't care what happens to you from this point on."

Valid point if we are talking about interpersonal relationships. But we're talking about county governments.

I support your argument by and large, but the above stat is totally out of whack.

The former Milton County is for the most part contiguous with these cities (with 2010 census figures following):

Roswell - 88,346
Alpharetta - 57,551
Johns Creek - 76,728
Milton - 32,661
Mountain Park - 547

Total population of 255,843

Compare that to Fulton County's 2010 population of 920,581 and you have a percentage over one quarter of the county as a whole (28% to be more exact). If Sandy Springs is added (which was not part of the historical Milton but has been proposed as part of a new Milton), it's 93,853 residents would bring the total to 349,696 which is 40% of current Fulton county.

I think the other poster might have meant the City of Milton vs. all of Fulton County, but I see what you mean here for clarification. Your point is the population of north Fulton is substantial in percentages now (2012) as compared to the 2000 census alone or those earlier.

That is what I meant but I much appreciate Saintmarks' clarification. The way I wrote it sounded misleading.

Well, I think it's time for Milton to move out of the house and get a place of his own.

Too bad the other kids still in the house won't get the same opportunities to be invested in like Milton.

Fulton will have to clean up its act or suffer a serious decline if this happens.
