I have Cobb EMC and my bill, last summer, ran me on the high end was 65.00. I'm at about 1500 sq'. The highest gas bill I had this winter was 101.00. It pays to have a single story house.

I live in a one level 1960s brich ranch that's approximately 2100 square feet. In the months of June-September when it's the hottest, my electric bill runs from about $225 to $275 a month, and that's with the A/C set at 76 degrees.

It used to be a little higher than that but I had some extra insulation blown into the attic area and that has helped it (a tiny bit) since I did that. Also, if you use ceiling fans or fans in general set on low along with the A/C., that helps some too. A neighbor of mine just bought a solar powered attic vent fan and he says while it's only been on his roof for 4 weeks, he things it's really helping out at his place, heat buildup in your attic really does "leak" down into your home and makes the A/C have to work extra hard.

Once you're here long enough you can get on the "budget billing" plan with your electric company. After you've had service for around a year they can average out your monthly bills based on 12 months, and then they'll just charge you a flat rate each month based on that. So while in the Winter you'll pay more than you usually would, you'll pay less in the summer.
