My friend is with the PA State Police (not sure his rank but he has moved up nicely) and even they have been briefed this evening about the situation with the APD. Surreal!

This was shared with me from actual workers so I do not have a link and cannot verify if it is true: Ambulance providers that are not the 911 ambulance / EMS responder in Atlanta have said that they will not provide transfers among Atlanta hospitals. They will also not provide transport from surrounding community hospitals into Atlanta hospitals. Also, the local 911 ambulance EMS providers are only providing transport to the closest local hospital and will not do extra travel.

If patients out in outlying hospitals present with mothers having babies that need higher level care and they recommend the mom to be transported or for the person having heart issues to be transported into Atlanta for cardiac cath or other care I am told that this is not happening tonight or until further notice. All of this is to protect the providers.

Just curious. Why would they be briefed on the situation with APD?

That's pretty scary.

Honestly this whole situation is unraveling into something quite terrifying.

Well remember the protests and then riots and looting started 1 place and then spread everywhere.

APD might be reaching out to surrounding areas and asking/seeking assistance if things go south.

I wonder what the governor knows. If these reports are true, the national guard might be on high alert.

Well, the only level one trauma centers in the metro area are in Atlanta.

So you're saying if anyone is shot, involved in a car wreck, or sustains any other injury that requires a trauma center anywhere in our metro... tough luck?

I was told that the local EMS will respond to accidents and major trauma type things and transport to the local and closest hospital. I am sure that there is more to this and some sort of protocol but the bottom line was that they are not doing a lot of transporting that they routinely do. I am certainly not any sort of spokesperson.

Well maybe so, but I doubt they will be reaching out to Pennsylvania.
