I think they greatly underestimated the crowds at the Inman Festival this year as heard well over 100,000 people showed up....
(note for anyone who has never been... this is only a very small fraction of the event area)

But at least he..er, she... er... heshe, seemed to have fun...

One of the homes in Inman Park. I want this house bad - but I keep hearing Eddie Murphy singing in my head, "You can't afforrrrrrrd it..."

Another one of the (much larger) homes in Inman Park. I couldn't even afford the heating bill on this place...

You know how we all wished our Dads were more hip when we were kids? And then you had the Dads that tried SO hard to be hip that you just thought, "Oh crap, do NOT acknowledge you are my Father....."

Little Five Points (LFP for short for newbies)... the hippy/bong/crystal/tattooed/pierced neighborhood adjacent to Inman Park:

Yes, you might see just about anything in Little Five Points...

From purple or pink wigs to Freud and Jesus "action figures", you NEED to visit the "Junkman's Daughter" store in LFP just to see the stuff...

Awesome pics atlantagreg! And you're definitely right about the crowd at the Inman Park Festival. More people showed up for that than Dogwood, I think!

Oh, and I luv LFP--I live in Grant Park, so I drive through/hang out there and East Atlanta Village often.

Thanks. My usual habit during the festival is to eat at the Vortex, hit the festival, then with a sunburned face, go to the Junkman's daughter, take some pics, and go home limping. It's definitely an interesting event - one of the best in terms of art because there's a greater range of artists and art types than you typically see in most festivals. None of those cutsie heart shaped wood crafts things. ugh. Usually during the fest I'll see at least a couple of women (and a man or two) in a banana-thong type of thing walking around LFP - didn't see that this year... it was "tame". LOL

My only advice to folks is that if you go to the fest on a Saturday, then don't expect to be able to see a lot of the arts booths AFTER the parade. Everyone flocks up to see the parade, and when it's over, they filter down throughout the festival, as per the first pic I posted. Hard enough to wade through the people alone - much less make it to a booth. I hear that Sundays are a little more thinned out.

Default Storm over Midtown Skyline

Hey all:
I've loved all the photos and wanted to share a couple of my own. I live in City Heights, a highrise in the Old Fourth Ward - a big part of the reason I moved in was because of the fabulous views! Anyway, here's one from my balcony from a couple of months back right before sunset as a storm began moving in. I didn't do any kind of modification to the photos, this is the actual color of the sky and yes, those are real clouds (my friends keep asking!). Anyway, please keep the photos coming and let me know if you like this and I'll post some more.
J.
