Kind of cool to see a gay character in a seriously BA non-stereotyped role for a change. Omar doesn't mess around, as is the case with many gay people I've come across.

Looking at some of these R&B videos today if there was a gay R&B singer I doubt the video would ever see the light of day on mainstream television.

Yea but Elton John would have a new video and it would get play. Gayness is just not allowed in the black community. Religion or no religion Blacks hate homosexual MEN. Im generalizing a bit, of course not all blacks the same, but as a group, blacks dont understand.

I don't understand why blacks would be more averse to gay men.

they arent.

I believe in the religous realm, you will find most christians taking a stand against gays. Not just blacks. I think most blacks are appalled at the idea that gays are a minority like being black or hispanic. That will never be eccepted in the black community.

There have been more white religous leaders and government leaders that have been caught up in scandalls involving homosexual hypocresy than blacks.

Too many blacks are on the downlow just like too many white men are in the closet! We have to be very careful not to put a color on human behavior.

That is b/c contrary to what is fed on the news black views line up conservatively, especially in regards to homo-sexuality. However the news will have you believe all blacks are liberal hippies who are on welfare.

If you look throughout history homosexuality was huge in Europe/Greek/Roman days. Not Africa.

not all of our views line up conservitavly. your guilty of doing the same thing that the news media is putting out. black community is muti-cultural. we dont look a like we dont think a like.

Lets take the sagging pants issue. most blacks that i run into despise that style of dress. i do agree with the statement about africa being a country that is not as accepting of homosexuality compared to rome. but we are talking about americans. there is a big difference.

Lets take into consideration that blacks are just as diverse as any other race. as a nation we are somewhat conservative. why wouldnt the black community be refrective of that.
