The old man asked, "What was your last town like?"
The people on the wagon replied, "OH, it was terrible! People talked about each other, were often rude, would swindle you in a heartbeat... there was absolutely nothing we wanted to do with that town so we left."
The old man thought a minute and said, "Just as you found your last place, so will you find this one."
The wagon thanked the man for given them the heads up and moved on through the town to the next stop on the wagon trail.

A few minutes later another wagon stopped and asked, "Can you tell us about this town? We're thinking of staying here rather than continuing ahead."
The old man asked, "What was your last town like?"
The people in the wagon replied, "Oh it was a nice little place. The people tried to be as helpful as possible and we always had visitors."
The old man thought a minute and said, "Just as you found your last place, so will you find this one."

The idea is that whatever ideas you have about your last relationship (or experience) your view will be skewed into your next.

So you've found some people you don't like (whether it's a Christian or someone from a specific area, etc.) You're looking at everyone with this horrid suspicion that the next person is going to be exactly the same... you'll keep looking until you find it.
I find that people do that with SoCal all the time. They move here - we didn't ask them to come here - and they compare it to "home". They never give it a fair shake. I tell them they should go home and live where they are happiest and that it would make me happier to have only Californians who appreciate our state. I know this is only a dream though.

It seems to me that when you move you have to give your new state a chance and have a gracious spirit about you. Not try to recreate your old state.

You are so right, not every state is right for everyone, not every anything is right for everyone..But one thing people need to realize when they choose to relocate, they are not relocating to a state with a differenet neme but will be like where they came from or think they can leave the bad behind and bring all the good with them. People are pretty much the same everywhere, with some differences. happy people are happy, unhappy people are unhappy. The sun shines when your attitude shines.

Any so-called "commute" to work in hot springs would be nothing. We lived in HSV for ten years and the traffic in HS is wonderful. The evenings COOL OFF. I wish we had never moved. ETexas' evenings are stifling hot, there's NO scenery and the traffic is pretty bad. OK: so HS has people with no teeth; so what? I have mine. Are you looking in peoples' mouths or at the lakes there?
Lakes everywhere , cool evenings and silly taxes. Its great. Medical care?? Not so good. Thats the only reason we moved. Rude drs and dentists except for Conley Mason,DDS.

The traffic between Hot Springs Village and Hot Springs might not be bad, but the traffic is horrible in Hot Springs. I live right on Central Avenue and I dread having to even drive a mile down the street to the grocery store.

You claim the traffic "horrible." Are you saying HS is a big city with bumper to bumper traffic? Or that the cars are going 50mph?
Neither is the case. The cars on central avenue near the bathhouses are going 30 mph for petes sake. Tops. And further south near the mall? About 40mph tops. Laughable. Try Austin at 5pm . LOL There are ZERO traffic jams either. No Los Angeles or New Jersey traffic james.
This is funny. You dread driving to the grocery store?? What grocery store is on central? You mean Kroger? So funny. It's nothing and I'm a senior!

It is the seniors that makes the traffic so bad. lol. Seniors and tourists make driving in HS like a game of Russian roullette.

True.

But take the seniors and tourists away and Hot Springs would be hurting.
