hello camesquibel,

I'll give you my two cents about Yuma. Those who say it's a slice of heaven on earth and a great place to live , it may be for them. A person who is use to a smaller community would probably like yuma. I came here a year and a half ago at the suggestion of a relative. I had live in washington DC and NYC for the past 10 plus years. Now with the cultural diversity the abundance of things to do and see a place like yuma is not for someone who is use to city living. I lived and went to school in Texas Houston and Beaumont and I'll just say if you lived in one of the bigger cities there you probably wont like yuma because regardless of what these people have to say there is NOTHING to do here. No museums of consequnce, no place to eat outside of a variety of Mexican establishments. (like mexican food but not all the time) there is an olive garden and outback steakhouse. They have no nightclubs everything is basically a bar with dancing. Furhtermore, no place to listen to any live music unless you like country and western, so if you like jazz or classical then you're s-o-l. I've noticed people tend to gloss things over a place is not as good or as bad. I've just tried to let you know what is and isn't here. You'll have to come and make your own decision. If it's for you i say welcome. Personally, I'm out in a month or so it just isn't for me but to you it might be paradise. Good lUck on whatever you do.

I've been in Yuma for over a year, including two summers. I would love to put a positive spin on it but Yuma sucks. The good thing is that Yuma isn't too far from some wonderful places. That's one of the only things that makes this place tolerable. The summers are HOT; 120 degrees is totally normal here. There's a cute downtown area with a couple good restaurants and a lovely yoga studio. I haven't heard anything positive about the schools here. There's plenty of BLM land for winter camping. My husband and I are trying to make the most out of it, but we feel trapped! Thankfully, we will only be here for a couple more years. I would NOT buy a house here! I've moved a great deal and this place tops the charts for WORST place to live.

Anything positive about Yuma?

If a zombie thread ever needed a one-word response, I have one.
