I just switched to Sprint and was wondering for anyone has had Sprint in the ABQ area for a while, how's the reception? Have you had as many issues and poor reception as everyone says?
I have Sprint, my coverage and reception is about what it was in Tampa - some dead spots here and there, but overall, it works fine. I pretty much have the dead spots memorized so now I warn whomever I'm talking to if a spot is coming up (LOL). I'm in the foothills, coverage is fine, it's good in Rio Rancho, even SW part of the city. No service in Taos, however. Totally dead from Taos until just outside Santa Fe. Works fine in Santa Fe, and between here and Phoenix.
As for call quality, can't really say. My phone is at least 6 years old so I think some of the call quality is due to age of phone, not the service provider
Hi.
We are Sprint customers as well. In the ABQ area for about 1 year.
My phone is relatively new (I also use it to access the web, emails as well). I have not been dissatisfied with the local ABQ coverage. And I agree with Yukon, there are so less covered zones (ie.. a classroom at UNM which is below ground)... and small spots around the general ABQ area. But in general, I am pretty satisfied. And hardly any dropped calls.
That being said, I have NO comparison to any other cell service coverages, prices etc...
I also believe Sprint will give some sort of discount if you have an account with a Credit Union- but since I have not officially looked into that, you should inquire on your own..
I have a friend on Sprint. It might just be her phone, but I can't stand to talk to her on the phone. Any conversation lasting more than 2 or 3 minutes gets dropped at some point.
I have sprint. I am using the Palm Pre and have actually never encountered a dead zone in ABQ, only in rural areas where there is obviously no cell towers.
I think alot of times it has to do with the quality of the phone and not the company.
I had tmobile before and DID have some dead spots in ABQ. I am now loyal to sprint because the price is unbeatable for what you get and the service is good.

Sprint does give a credit union discount, and it doesn't have to be a local one either (I belong to Navy Federal Credit Union). I forget how much it is, seems like it's either 5% or 10% off maybe?
Also considering Sprint...I live in Placitas and don't know if Sprint reception is good here.
