With the high hispanic population in todays world, it would be beneficial to learn some spanish. I have heard good things about Rosetta Stone.. Expensive though..
Realistically, they should be the ones to learn english though and not us earn spanish.. Just my opinion.

Realisticly it would be nice to have opportunities to learn Spanish (or other languages) fluently at a younger age and have future generations be bilingual instead of the lackadaisical screw foreign languages attitude that permeates America. God forbid we open our minds just a little bit. Spanish was spoken on US soil before the English arrived and has been very prevalent since the 16th century. But alas, America is set in its ways.

we have always had languages in school. but speaking german to a mexican doesn't work too well.
Sounds like you will be the most knowledgeable and fluent person to speak Spanish in Albuquerque. Last time I visited Albuquerque, I never needed any type of translator.
People in Albuquerque speak English as a primary language.

I completely agree with you! People should be required to learn a second language in school.
I just moved here and have had no need so far to know Spanish, but I'm going to try to learn because a lot of people here seem to be bilingual.
Thanks so much. So no real pressure to learn Spanish but worth doing..
