We moved from tmo to verizon because of lack of decent smart phones and service where we live. All services offer unlimited texting for about $20-$30 a month. If you want unlimited data, your stuck with either sprint or tmo. Tmobile doesn't offer the iPhone while sprint does, however from their service map, their service is not that great and spotty.
of the tiered data plans AT&T offers the best since it offers 3gb at $30 while verizon offers 2 at $30. But when I was looking to switch i found verizon offered the best service coverage over At&t and had more perks that we used that AT&T didn't offer. A better discount for one and the family talk circle plus more people were on verizon than AT&T so it just made sense.

On average with verizon, with a single person, depending on your plan you can expect to probably pay about $90 a month for the lowest min with unlimited texts and 2gb of data. It all depends on what you need.

I live on the very northern edge of Rio Rancho addresses but technically unincorporated Sandoval county and have verizon, and the coverage at my house is awful, visitors with AT&T have much better signal in my house than I do....

however, any time I travel more than .5 miles from my house, it's great, so... ymmv.

I just moved to the NE side of ABQ and my Verizon coverage sucks here! Calls keep dropping and most of the time I can only get 2 to zero bars of coverage on my phone. Most of my family is from Michigan so being able to talk to them is important. Not happy!

I have Consumer Cellular which uses AT&T. I have no trouble anywhere in metro Albuquerque.

Is Consumer Cellular good in Santa Fe as well as Albuquerque? Any areas in New Mexico where it doesn't work well?

We used Verizon for several years with no problems.

My wife just changed to "Family Mobile" service and "Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy J7 Sky Pro 16GB LTE, No Contract Prepaid SmartPhone" about 3 months ago and is happy. She gets good coverage throughout ABQ and Rio Rancho, and no complaints.
