Well, all depends. For example, this guy in North Pole built a beautiful cabin at a corner lot near Hurst Ave. He has been trying to sell the cabin and lot for several years. The asking price has been around $140K, but I have no idea how my expense he had building it.

Some lots in Fairbanks, near the river, cost over $60K. A coworker of mine has a 2-acre lot by the water, and he was offered $66K, but didn't sell. However, most 1-acre lots in other parts of town cost around $12K. Lumber is extremely expensive in Alaska, unless you can buy a few acres of land with timber in it to build a cabin.

As Ray said, it really depends on what you define as a cabin.

When people call me from out of state on a house that is described as unfinished, they usually ask what unfinished means.

I explain that in Alaska, if we have 4 walls, a roof, and woodstove in the middle...that's finished. Anything less is unfinished.

So if you only need 4 walls, a roof and a stove it won't cost much. If you need such luxuries as a shower, kitchen, windows, and other things like that...it's a different story.

you see our problem is my in laws are freaking out and thiunk that its gonna be really expenisive to go there. were buying land thats covered in trees. So were just trying t figure out how much it would cost to build a abinb and how long it would take. I read a linkk about a couple who built one together and it turned out beautiful. we just need the walls up and a wood burning stone asap, the septic tank we can install ourself im sure(knowong how to use heavy machinary) and we can install a tub and go the good ol ashion way like my aunt did when i was a kid and heat it on the stove. then theres a well e need to drill for or whatever we do.
So if anyone can give me an est. on the cost of building a cabin the walls with a woodburning stove. and how long it will take i appreciate it.

Our hooch cost about $4500 to build. It wasn't pretty but it did have 2 windows. I spent more than I wanted too but I went for overkill on the insulation.
