Actually they are "brown recluse" - I worked with a gal whose grandson was bitten by one (they live in Anchorage). These spiders are very poisonous and bites require immediate medical attention. These things are like their name, they are reclusive; they hide in blankets, quilts,, drawers, etc...ugh, gawd I hate spiders!!

Well we do have "Snow Snakes", if they bite you it will cause a really bad case of frostbite and cause the area to turn black...

But most of the time they are only found in really deep snow, that is why we wear snowshoes to keep us up off the ground where they roam in the winter.

In summer they hibernate down by the Permafrost where it is cold, but if you are camping and put a large cooler on the ground, the cold will draw them up to it, so always look in there before you reach in and grab a cold one...

You do know I am kidding right?

I live fairly close to Anderson out on the highway, if you have any questions, I will answer them for you.

Don't the squirrels and rabbits have fleas? Or the wolves and coyotes get them on the peninsula?

Wolf have lice and other assorted "critters" on them. That is why a lot of trappers and hunters will allow them to freeze and freeze/kill the vermin before they cape them out.

Not to mention they just plain smell bad....
