It's like reverse greenhouse effect...
Here's one I took of the shrine last summer. Chiaroscuro, baby!
I LOVE LOVE that pic, Xa'at! Yes, in between the light and dark. Very good use of light.

I thought I'd get you pumped up with some more sunny day pics. I was using my ex's camera and I couldn't figure out how to get the stupid time stamp thingy to go away. Anyway...I realize these pics are 2 years old, but the ones I took last summer aren't sunny! So...here you go....one of my all time favorite scenes...1) the fireweed and Mendenhall in the background, 2) the cute little run down shack (you know where), 3) see if you can guess the location of the last pic

I LOVE these! Especially the shack. I pass it all the time, have always thought it would make a great photo.
I hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of running them through a few photoshop filters...

No...not at all. I too passed that little shack all the time. The day I finally stopped to take the photo, the field was all watery, mushy, and I was wearing hiking shoes and I was trying not to slush around in the stuff. I was taking pics quick like because my feet kept sinking into the mud!! I couldn't get good footing...I took different vantage shots, but that one I liked the best.
Okay X....where is the location of the water/boat pic. Can you guess?

Well, it's not immediately familiar. I'm going to say... Tee Harbor?

Ah, I was close. Auke Bay!
I'm looking at an apartment out on fritz cove. They haven't called me back, though, so I guess my business isn't that important to them. What I really want is this: Fritz Cove 1bd/1bath cottage with sauna (broken link) but I can't afford it.

No no. I don't do apartment "complexes." Honestly, I'd prefer to live in the valley or on Douglas and I would just take the bus into town.

It says they can be used in alpine places, so I would have to guess that they can handle snow... DANG, you can't beat that price, and aren't they just adorable? I'm one of those people who prefers cozy spaces, too.
Yes condensation and the snow weight. Remember the winter before last? 202 inches?? That's alot of weight, even with solar heating and wood beams and a slanted roof...I don't see that there's a real "frame" on the yurt, although I will agree with you they are very cute.

I love fireweeds. I just thought I'd throw that in.

Default Request for a pic from warptman

Hey Warptman one of my Dad's best friends lives in Bethel, about a dozen years ago he had us fly up to go hunting with him. Well I spent pretty much the whole week hunting caribou but I got to spend one day in town on each side of the hunting trip, and the only kind of landmark I remember is your big yellow hospital up on stilts... so if you don't mind I'd love to see a pic of it to refresh my memory.

Please.
