  • Non-Food Contact Surfaces
    Observation: The nonfood contact surfaces of the following equipment have accumulations of grime and debris
    Correction: 1) the food storage racks on both of the hot holding lines 2) the interior of the Delfield RIF 3) the exterior of the freeze machine 4) the interior of the sugar caddies on the lobby service station 5) the area in front of the carbonated beverage dispenser in the lobby.
  • Equipment and Utensils, Air-Drying Required
    Observation: Observed several stainless steal pans on the storage rack that were found stacked while wet after cleaning and chemical sanitization.
    Correction: Items must be allowed to drain and air-dry before being stacked or stored to allow evaporation of chemical sanitizer and moisture that may encourage microbial growth.
  • Ventilation Systems - Cleaning Ventilation Systems - Nuisance and Discharge Prohibition
    Observation: Observed the intake and exhaust air ducts above the carbonated drink dispenser are not being cleaned
    Correction: Clean intake and exhaust air ducts and change filters so they are not a source of contamination by dust, dirt and other materials

  • Critical: Demonstration of Knowledge* (corrected on site)
    Observation: The person in charge failed to explain the correct procedures for sanitizing utensils and food-contact surfaces of equipment. The person in charge did not know what the concentration of the quaternary ammonium sanitizer should be or how to test the concentration.
    Correction: Ensure the designated person in charge (PIC) is knowledgeable about foodborne disease prevention, Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point principles and Regulation requirements. The PIC should be prepared to recognize conditions that may contribute to foodborne illness. The PIC must also recognize conditions that fail to comply with Regulation requirements and be authorized to take the appropriate preventive and corrective actions to ensure that the Regulations' objectives are fulfilled.
  • Critical: Food Contact with Equipment and Utensils* (corrected on site)
    Observation: Food in contact with equipment or utensils that have not been cleaned or sanitized as required. Per conversation with the person in charge, all in use utensils are washed and sanitized or changed out every night.
    Correction: Use only cleaned and sanitized utensils or equipment during food preparation. Ensure all in use utensils are washed and sanitized or changed out at least once every 4 hours.
  • Critical: Equipment - Food Contact Surfaces, Nonfood Contact Surfaces, and Utensils* (corrected on site)
    Observation: The following equipment food-contact surfaces were observed soiled to sight and touch: 1. the whisks 2. the stainless steel food storage container on the drying rack.
    Correction: Clean and sanitize these surfaces for food contact.

Inspection conducted as an opening inspection for Taco Bell.
All corrections have been made to the pre-opening inspection report. The facility is in substantial compliance with the Virginia Department of Health Regulations, permit will be issued once the Certificate of Occupancy Permit has been received from the building department.

Inspection conducted as a second pre-opening inspection for Taco Bell.
The following items must be corrected prior to the issuance of the permit:
-Provide soap and handwashing signs at all handsinks.
-Ensure purchase stickers are removed from clean equipment.
-Remove the chemical storage rack from the wall stored over the clean dishes drainboard of the 3 compartment sink.
-Ensure all equipment is cleaned and sanitized prior to use.
-Occupancy permit from the building department is required.
Please contact the health department for final approval once the above items have been corrected.
Facility has permission to order food.

02/23/2015Pre-Opening
Inspection conducted as a pre-opening for Taco Bell.
The following areas need to be corrected prior to issuance of the permit:
-All equipment must be in place, shipping plastic removed and washed, rinsed and sanitized prior to use.
-Clean all floors throughout.
-Provide electrical and water for the facility.
-No approval has been given for ordering/receiving foods at this time. Ensure all refrigeration units are turned on and thermometers are provided in all reach in coolers. Ensure coolers are measured at below 40'F.
-Ensure sanitizer and test strips are provided for the 3 compartment sink.
-Provide a dumpster for the outside of the facility.
-A certificate of occupancy will be required prior to issuance of the permit.
Please contact the health department once the above items have been corrected for the opening inspection.
