The above observations and the following were discussed with the person in charge: -Employee health handouts provided. -Ensure the measuring cup that comes with the Magnesol XL Powder is used when dispensing product into the fryer oil. Only exact amount is to be dispensed per manufactures specifications. -Leaks observed under the handsink in the warewashing area and by the food prep area by the toaster. These handsinks are no longer sealed to the wall, please repair both. -Harborage conditions exist in the facility for fruit flies. Observed apparent fruit flies around the plumbing connections under the handsink by the toaster. Please repair and contact pest control to treat the facility. -A backflow prevention device is required on the mop sink. Observed a hose attached to the mop sink that remains under constant pressure. Handout provided showing backflow prevention device needed for the faucet. Inspection conducted as an opening inspection for Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen. The above observations and the following were discussed with the person in charge: -Ensure the small leak under the handsink is repaired prior to opening. -Ensure the higher wattage light bulb in the walk in cooler is installed. -Occupancy permit form the building department was issued on 09/04/15. Facility appears to be in substantial compliance with the Virginia Department of Health Rules and Regulations, permit has been issued. Inspection conducted as a second pre-opening inspection for Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen. The following items must be corrected prior to the issuance of the permit: -Ensure all equipment is sealed to the wall. -Repair the leak under the handsink by the front entrance. -Ensure all chemicals are placed in the designated storage areas. -Ensure all maintenance equipment is removed from the facility or placed in a designated area away from food preparations. -Clean and sanitize all food contact surfaces. -Clean all floors throughout the facility and in the walk in cooler/freezer. -Remove all food storage containers and utensils from packaging and wash, rinse and sanitize. -Remove all shipping plastic from equipment including the interior of the walk in freezer. -Replace all missing/removed ceiling tiles in the back storage area. -Provide additional lighting in the walk in cooler. Light measured at 7 foot candles, 10 foot candles of light is required in this cooler. -Construct all shelving units throughout the facility. Facility has permission to order food and conduct training for employees. No food can be prepared and/or served to the public until a permit has been issued. Inspection conducted as a pre-opening inspection for Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen. The following items must bee corrected prior to issuance of the permit: -Provide hot water for the facility. -Ensure all handsinks are equipped with soap, papertowels and handwashing signs. -Clean and sanitize all equipment, counters and prep areas. -Clean all floors throughout the facility. -Provide a backflow prevention device on the water line for the ice machine. -Ensure all refrigeration units are turned on and thermometers are provided measuring below 40'F. -Provide a thin probe thermometer for taking the temperature of foods. -Ensure test strips are provided to measure the concentration of the sanitizer being used in the 3 compartment sink and sanitizer buckets. -Provide a covered trash can in both unisex restrooms. -Occupancy permit from the building department must be provided prior to issuance of the health department permit. Facility can turn on and test the fryers prior to issuance of the permit as long as fire department approval has been given. No foods can be prepared in these fryers for sale to the public until a permit is obtained by the health department.
