Discussed menu with person in charge. No cooking done in facility - frozen or precooked foods heated in the microwave. Prepack foods also served. Reviewed food handler cards. Single serve items used to serve the food. Discussed bare hand contact with ready to eat foods. Recommended for October permit.

  • Non-Food Contact Surfaces (corrected on site)
    Observation: The nonfood contact surface of the following had accumulations of grime and debris: Inside reach-in fridge (including the drawers and shelves) and blue caddy used to hold baby bottles.
    Correction: Clean the surface at a frequency necessary to preclude accumulation of soil residues that become encrusted or attract insects and rodents.
  • Hand Drying Provision (corrected on site)
    Observation: No disposable towels were provided at the sink in the kitchen.
    Correction: Hand drying devices such as individual disposable paper towels, a continuous towel system that supplies the user with a clean towel or heated air hand drying device must be provided at all hand washing lavatories to encourage proper hand washing and avoid employees to drying their hands on their clothing or other unclean materials

    Correction: (approved food handler web site info given to the person-in-charge.) Obtain the food handler's card from either one of the SE VA health districts or the one (1) web site approved by the Portsmouth Health Department.
