Description: Master baker Lionel Vatinet turns out the kind of yeasty perfection at La Farm that most bakers spend their lives trying to achieve. Breads come in a number of incarnations, including anything-but-basic French, kalamata olive, and challah. Pastries include lemon bars, tarts, croissants, and an unforgettable pain au chocolate. The cafe serves soups, sandwiches, and salads for lunch and dinner. Breakfast selections include croque madame and homemade granola. Vatinet also offers baking lessons at La Farm.

Description: At Brigs, brunch service lasts all day long. Have one of the Royal Skillets and brunch will be the only meal you need that day. It’s a mélange of home fries mixed with meats and veggies, coated in cheese, and topped with eggs cooked your way. The cooks are always coming up with new dishes and switching out the omelet of the week and the Benedict of the month. The first one opened in 1988, and Brigs now has four locations around the Triangle.

Description: Don’t let the cafeteria-style layout turn you off. Havana Grill aims to replicate the experience of Cuban eateries popular in Miami. It’s one of the only places in the Triangle to find tostones, maduros, ropa vieja, and picadillo. On Saturdays, the grill hosts dancing on the patio. The place is easy to find—just look out front for the palm trees that the owner had shipped in from Florida.
