Strange thread I know but bear with me. Ive had cats and huge dogs all my life but I'm moving someplace that doesn't allow dogs and I'm wanting to find a cat that on the larger side(size not weight). Can anyone help me I've usually had a DSH but I always had mastiffs/rottweillers/wolfhounds/and the like I'm almost looking for a cat that is almost like a small dog(size wise) any suggestions?

Maine Coons and Ragdolls are said to be the largest domestic cats.

I agree with Shelbygirl1, I've always heard Maine Coons are the biggest breed of cats.

Yeah, Maine Coons :-D They even act like dogs, you can teach them commands and play fetch with them. Male Maine Coons are much bigger than a female btw.

One thing I thought I'd mention. Be careful if you're looking for a Maine Coon. In my job I've seen a ton of cats labeled 'Maine Coon' just because they're a little bigger than a standard domestic shorthair. Also, if you do decide to get one, research hypertrophic cardiomyopathy first.

I imagine Siberians must be up there in the top 5 as well, when it comes to size.
I have a 1/2 MC 1/2 Persian and he is 15 lbs...but my male Raggie is 18lbs. and actually on the small side. Have a girlfriend whose Raggie is 26 lbs and not a piece of fat on him!

I have a female Ragdoll who is still under one year old and she looks like a large adult cat. Her brother (my brother-in-law's cat) is ginormous and supposedly they don't reach full maturity until they are 2-3 years old. Neither are "fat," but very furry, even after attacking them with a furminator ;p

I just looked it up...and Guiness World book of Records lists Ragdolls as the largest domestic cat.
