With a selection of more than half a million books, in both hardback and paperback, the books at Book Gallery cover more than 2,000 different subjects. The store covers 12,000 square feet on two levels, making it one of the largest bookstores in the state of Texas. The store’s specialty is in local, Southwestern, and military history. They also offer book repair for those tattered old books you just can’t bear to part with, and free book search services are also available.

Description: This local bookstore has been in business for more than two decades and has around 1,000 new and used books for sale. They offer sales on either a pay or trade basis, so if you have old books you’d like to get rid of, you can bring them in for trades. Among their stock are a wonderful selection of rare books, including out of prints, first editions, used and new books, audio editions, and more. They also have a great collection of kids’ and young adult books for the young bookworm in your family, and if you’ve got the kids in tow, let them explore the Book Rack’s kids’ area stocked with toys, and of course books, for your kids to play while you shop. You can also bring your kids in to the shop every second Sat of the month, when Book Rack hosts storytime readings for children.

Description: This full service bookstore in nearby Mesilla, New Mexico, houses a large selection of books, specializing in Southwestern American literature and a large selection of children’s and general titles. The store also sells plenty of interesting gifts and decor items, such as Indian arts and crafts, maps, and blankets, and they have a notable selection of Navajo rugs. The building itself is an interesting place to visit, as well. The bookstore is housed in an historic mercantile building in Old Mesilla’s plaza that dates to 1856. Some of their famous customers have included Robert Redford, whose JB Hill boots were featured in the movie The Horse Whisperer, as well as the likes of Marlon Brando and Harrison Ford. On a visit to the factory, you can observe the entire bootmaking process and see how the boots are designed and put together. You can also select the leather for your boots, along with receiving a personal fitting. During the fitting, you will try on several styles of boots and they may take custom measurements of your feet and legs, if necessary. You will then have the chance to select the leather personally for your boots. Their factory and showroom are open weekdays and by appointment only on weekends.
