Description: Beginners and more seasoned sailors benefit from instruction here, which encompasses every level from Basic Keelboat to Celestial Navigation. Even though it’s located on an inland lake, it is consistently ranked as one of the top American Sailing Association and U.S. Sailing affiliated schools in the United States. Classes vary in price depending on number of sessions and where the sessions are held (some take place in the Caribbean). The academy also offers a sailing club, private instruction, charter cruises, and boat rentals.

Description: Operating mostly on Lake Allatoona, South Winds promotes nautical activities, races, and fellowship. Activities are largely based at the Harbortown Marina in Acworth and the club has a full calendar of activities including races almost every weekend. Novices are welcomed to take part. The club has started a Sea Scouts program designed to encourage teenagers to become sailors. Scouts learn boat repair, maintenance, and navigation and have access to small, medium, and large sailboats.

Description: This rink designates specific nights for special age groups, with a basic rate of $1.50 skate rental plus admission price. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are reserved for private parties. On Thursdays from 8 p.m. to midnight the rink is reserved for skaters older than 18; admission is $6. Family Night is Friday from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Family skating is also offered on Saturday afternoons from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Teen Night is Saturday from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. with an $8 admission fee. Description: The Atlanta Ski Club is one of the largest ski clubs in the world, with approximately 3,000 members. Description: Metro Atlanta has a number of soccer leagues and two soccer seasons: fall and spring. The Georgia State Soccer Association is the place to call if you want to find a soccer league in your area for kids or adults. This is the governing body for the sport, and all soccer leagues are their affiliates. This office handles all registration, insurance, and other administrative matters for organized league play. Description: A solid boost to the popularity of the sport came in 1971 when ALTA began league play with 1,000 members. Today more than 77,000 individuals pay $20 a year for adults, $10 for juniors (age 18 and under), in dues to belong to the organization.
