Yeah, and those guys are all too often the loudest of political ranters, but no one could ever talk em out of that huge lifted behemoth, it's a matter of ego VS their wallet. Americans have contributed mightily to their suffering with regard to their "needs" being the same as their wants. When I was young the only people who needed a truck were farmers, contractors, and loggers who needed 4 wheel drive.

I live in Clark county, a place that loudly resisted the notion of light rail, and now chokes on it's high volume of traffic generally heading into or out of Portland Oregon.. Pollution, high cost, and the political ramifications of oil all make for a good argument that some form of mass transit will ultimately be the practical solution to our car-centric dilemma. The irony of that practical view lies in the fact that even as the fuel cost goes into stratospheric heights, the public will most likely never advocate for better transit systems, nor will they ever want to pay for it, instead, choosing that huge eighty thousand dollar pickup...

Speaking a bit tongue in cheek, anyone who wants to can drive at 55 mph, Inslee is so freedom loving that he refuses to bow to the right wingers and restrict your freedom to choose the top speed at which you drive. If you *voluntarily* drive at 55 mph then the higher cost of fuel will be balanced by your better fuel economy so it’s a win win. And Inslee will have then preserved your freedom from, literally, the police state.

Maybe we should force Seattle to have a speed limit no higher than 60mph. Actually, lets extend it as far north as Smokey Point and as far south as Tumwater. That will annoy those Sound-area liberals and we can say it is for the good of the environment and ease congestion so they can't complain. Maybe even have variable speed limits when more of them are on the freeway too, going down to 30mph. Oh man, they'll be so annoyed at that...

LOL, already done.
I think WFH really has merit. Together with moving a fair percent of commuter transportation to electricity, it has the potential to solve much of our energy and pollution issues....provided we don't go full stupid and remove our dams. Diversify, not economically force everyone to one source when it doesnt make sense.

Not so. When I drive to work from Issaquah to Seattle on I90 at 5:30am the traffic is moving at 70-75. Going the speed limit (60) is going to cause a wreck. I will set my cruise control to 68 in the 2nd lane and people pass me right and left. Going home about 2:30pm it's almost as fast, with minor slowing at the 405 junction, and Factoria exit.

I take it you don't believe in global warming just like all Democrats.

The Democrats call it a "DIRE" situation, yet REFUSE to do the simplest, cheapest, and quickest solution to significantly reduce CO2 emissions NOW.

Instead they transfer tax dollars to their friends in exchange for campaign contributions.

I will believe that global warming is NOT a SCAM, when the Democrat governors immediately implement 55 MPH and lower speed limits.

It is that simple. Otherwise, lets just forget about global warming and destroying our shrub-steppe habitat in the state by building Industrial Wind Areas and destroying the Public Utility Districts by replacing hydro public power with wind corporate power.

BTW...in eastern Washington it is a good way to get shot on roads as visitors from western Washington take offense at driving the speed limit let alone 55 mph. But I do drive the speed limit. I get lots of one finger salutes.

We’ve had this discussion before, 509. As I said, I was being flippant.

In fact, we do need to do all we can to reduce emissions. Global climate change is a huge problem. If the Democrats choose to do it by promoting alternate energies and you don’t like that, then please drive at 55. If enough people do it, then hostility will ease. And if there’s a risk of being shot, that’s just part of right wing gun friendly America, and the solution is to wear body armor and carry your own weapons, of course!

Freedom!

*shrug* This one is up to WA voters to decide, states rights and all that.

That being said, it's always funny to have politicians touting their initiatives and accomplishments to one group....and then turn around and lie to another that they had anything to do with the repercussions of said initiatives and then blame others.

Those people shooting at me are from WESTERN WASHINGTON and probably left wing liberals.

On a serious note, I avoid people from western Washington. They are NUTS.

They come over here and tell ME about the LAW. One told me my dog had to be on leash on a National Forest trail. He was adamant. I told him he was wrong, and then he said "how do you know"??

My answer was simple...."I wrote the regulation".

I run into a nut case from western Washington at the minimum once a year. They really want to tell me how to live my life over here.

Is there an problem with lack of oxygen to the brain when you drive over a Cascade pass??
