Actually, that’s a very good point, snark aside. Everyone removing their mask to eat (back when masking was required) at the same time is a major flaw in trying to protect against COVID transmission.

In this case, most everyone else will already be unmasked for the duration, so it doesn’t apply.

Like I said, simple easy reasonable steps to minimize the risk of transmission while still living your life. It doesn’t have to be an all or nothing situation.

Now, if I and my older relatives didn’t have prior immunity from vaccination and/or COVID, that would be a different matter. My travel would endanger them and not be the smartest decision under the circumstances. But I’m lucky enough to live in the US where vaccines and boosters are freely available, and be flying to a country where they are also freely available. Such an advantage, to travel between two countries that put a strong emphasis on science and technology.
