So Sac County median household income is literally only 67% of what CoCo County is. With that level of affluence, CoCo County should be a significantly safer place to live on a whole. But it is not.

Yes, the very wealthy areas are fairly safe low crime. But the high crime areas of CoCo County are absolutely nuts. I know, I lived in the bay. Places where open air drug use, sex, vandalism, does not even get a second glance from the cops. Because it's just not worth the police resources to arrest people for things the CoCo DA will either decline to prosecute or not seek serious penalties for.
The cost of living is way higher in CoCo County, home prices are almost double Sacramento. That $107K really isn't that "affluent" at all when you factor in housing costs.

Where is there "open air drug use, sex, and vandalism" in CC County?

Pittsburg, Antioch, Baypoint. When's the last time you took 4 out that way and seen it all?

Contra Costa county's median income levels are bolstered by Danville, Alamo, Lafayette, Walnut Creek, Orinda, Moraga, Alhambra Valley, the nicer parts of El Sobrante, San Ramon and Blackhawk.

Fairly recently, several times in the past month, as I live right on the other side of the hill. When was the last time you were there?

They are pretty dumpy towns overall except for the newer areas but I'm not seeing open air drug markets and sex.

You do understand that HH median income means that half the households make more than that, and it's not the "average" right? $107K is one of the loftiest median HH incomes you'll find.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/...ies-in-the-us/

in other words, if there's a county with 9 houses and 4 of those houses have an income of $100,000, 1 has a HH income of $110,000 and the remaining 4 houses have an income of $20,000,000 each, the median HH income is $110,000.

The average HH income in the above example would be $8,945,555.

Yeah, not sure how that makes a difference in my point at all. It's also one of the most expensive counties for housing costs you'll find. Probably not many other places where a $100k+ HH income will qualify for low-income/subsidized housing.

I feel bad for you guys. It’s a shame watching such an iconic and beautiful city go to waste. SF was among the places I would have dreamed to live in but now there’s just no way I could justify it.

SF resident and TV reporter robbed at gunpoint while filming story on crime

San Francisco resident Brad Tardy was preparing for an interview with KPIX-TV news reporter Don Ford Wednesday for a story on crime in his Twin Peaks neighborhood when they were robbed at gunpoint.

As they were standing at Twin Peaks Boulevard and Burnett Avenue in the middle of the afternoon, a white luxury car with four men pulled up next to them and three men hopped out, one of them holding a gun.

This type is fairly common around here though.
I am born and raised here and it most certainly has got worse in every way possible

It's the other way around.

It always happens, shoot high and the charges get dropped from a felony to misd. It's all a money $$$ machines that feds itself. The system is definitely corrupt as a whole from judicial to enforcement.
Walnut Creek cites you for jaywalking as they have nothing to do there and make their revenue on parking /motor vehicle laws and have the time to look for anything. Whereas SF doesn't have the time of day and have to respond from call to call tied up in paperwork report writing.

High home prices have no correlation with high crime rates. NYC and LA have insanely high housing costs, they are much safer than lower cost Chicago. Despite the fact that median household incomes are relatively similar in all 3 cities.

There is however, a correlation with higher incomes and lower crime rates.

107k median household income is insanely high, considering the number of students, retirees, stay at home parents, etc. It's amongst the highest in the country. The simple reality is, despite the amount of wealth in CoCo County, crime is insane. This is largely due to the DA's office in CoCo County.

In my line of work, I see it everyday. Criminals will get much harsher sentences, in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Sac County versus Alameda, SF, and CoCo Counties. It's largely because that is what voters in those counties vote for. They vote for Judges up for election, D.A's, etc.

As another posted, open air drug use/sex/vandalism is very common in the Delta communities. Also Richmond and San Pablo.
