Love the Meth on BART guy doing his thing while people look on, not saying anything. Now if he dared to bite into a ham sandwich, half the car would be shaming him for eating on the train.

I bet these people were hoping for a Not Guilty verdict in the Floyd trial but decided to loot anyways. So now we just have some random looting going on apparently. WTF is wrong with this area?

Looters smash windows at electronics stores in Oakland, Emeryville

Emeryville police said that "a large caravan of over 25 vehicles" tried to get into locked businesses by the Best Buy and couldn't get in.

When they couldn't force entry, police said got out of their cars and smashed out the glass windows at Best Buy, and then pried open the interior barrier doors to enter the business, police said.

Once inside, they stole merchandise, although police didn't detail what was taken.

We don't have a crime problem where I live. Police arrest transient junkies for being under the influence and away they go... Drugs are still illegal here, so why risk incarceration when you can go live free in the Bay Area?

Wow it’s almost like they’re using what’s in the news as a opportunity to steal! Who would’ve ever thought that would happen in today’s “woke” world???

The looter element of societies is quite separate from “hoping for” ‘justice’ ... these lawless events are instigated by opportunistic thieves ... others with weak character get drawn in, but the core couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the actual issue used as an excuse.

Finper, I’ll assume you, like so many others here who, sneeringly use the term “woke” to denigrate, have no idea about the origins of the phrase.

It historically referred to Black slaves who stayed awake secretly at night to learn to read by hidden candlelight ... you know, to better themselves through self-education. As such, delightful use of the term by legions of classless ignorants today is racist to an extreme, to say the least.

Now you have learned, I’m sure you’ll eschew further denigrations. Thanks

lol, people in Santa Clara, San Mateo and Marin County make a lot of money, people with a lot of money have the means to "not tolerate" all sorts of things. I don't know if they still do it, but not too long ago residents of the small incorporated City of Ross (in Marin County) could call the Police and arrange for "vacation watch" where cops would periodically check their property and pick up any packages delivered on the porch. That's the kind of policing you get in a town of 2200 people with a median household income of over 300k. Same thing in Kensington, a town of 5500 people in Contra Costa County, you report when you will be on vacation and they will even call someone out to fix a broken sprinkler head.

PS There is no 'general culture of lawlessness in the bay" which you should know if you are out there in the thick of it every day like you claim.

looters are not demonstrators and demonstrators are not looters. Looters react to any disruption that will cause enough chaos that they can do smash and grabs in businesses. They also engage in that behavior during storms and evacuations, and at times are organized enough to make a number of 911 calls to get the police to go to another area and give them time to commit their crimes.

I'm clearly aware which is why I said I bet they were hoping for a "not guilty verdict" because people would protest then they would have "cover" to start looting. But that didn't happen and they just decided to start looting anyways. They were just basically waiting to loot and when the protests didn't materialize they still looted.

It's unbelievable the type of criminals we have in this area. It's like Mad Max or something.

In what way are the “criminals we have in this area” different than criminals in any other area?
