There's nothing you can do. It's inevitable. I know that some day my arms, chest and abs will not be as well muscled and defined as they are now. Accept yourself.
It's been so long I had actually forgotten about this but I DID do something about my dark puffy eyes. I just got sick and tired of looking "sick and tired". It was hereditary in my case and nothing that couldn't be 'fixed' so I did it. It was supposed to be laser surgery but my doc ordered the wrong equipment so it ended up being actual incisions into my lower eyelids and estra fat sucked out. Sounds awful, I know and it didn't hurt but I did look I'd been hit by a truck for a little while. This was 15 years ago and I was warned that it might come back but so far so good! After that I tried contacts too but decided that my glasses did, indeed, cover a lot of sins. lol
Interesting point you make. We are "congenital puffers" too. I can still remember when we were kids our parents looked so scary to us when they woke up because they didn''t look at all like they looked the night before. I wonder what causes that? Anyway, we all grew up and have the same problem.
When you're young you can get by with looking sloppy and throwing on whatever type of clothes, but as I get older it's more important to wear nice clothes, be groomed, and smell nice. Definitely takes more money and effort the older you get.
If we're trying to snag a love interest or compare ourselves to others of our age and sex (competition), then we may have to stay in the game of trying to look really great. But time works hard against us, lol.
It does make you wonder, though.... are those reasons worth the bother?
I can see spending the effort to look stylish because it's fun or it gives you self esteem. But for competition? At our age, what do we have to compete for?
Life it too short. If your looks depress you that much then spend the money to change them.
Get that facelift or botox treatment. You'll feel much better about yourself and that will go further than having a fat bank account.
A good sense of humor is the best revenge to growing old.
This.
My gramma had suffered through a decade of hell, including being misdiagnosed with Alzheimer's and not being able to walk for several years. She bounced back, amazingly enough, remembered everyone, is 100% mentally there, and can walk as fast as I can. Then she got Breast Cancer.
She went to get a mastectomy, and when I spoke to her the night before, I reassured her everything will be ok. Before I could even finish saying that, she says, "Of course it will! I have way too many clothes to still wear!"
This is a woman who grew up in fashion, was always the Belle of the Ball - absolutely stunning. You can only imagine what she looked like after going through 12+ years of hell. That attitude is priceless. She was a diva and still is. I admire her spirit so much.

Mine was inherited from the maternal side of my family and I can't think of one woman who didn't have them. Don't know the origin but it's a bugger. Some have said it's because we have Dutch in our background and my ex was Dutch and had the same 'problem'.
Wouldn't go that far but bitterness is really unattractive. For your sake I hope you work through it one day.
I can't work through your hang ups as I am too involved in my own happiness. Get over yourself.
