For those who prefer "teachings", how do you know what's being preached came from God? Any possibility of his own "worldviews" being labeled as God's "worldviews"?

(oh, "morals, values" too)

Of course. There's every possibility. In fact, everything we say is an interpretation...I don't believe there's such a thing as a completely unbiased view.

Eh, that preacher is struggling to understand stuff just like you are. But in the end it's on us to do our own homework, our own introspection, use our own heads to figure out what really does seem to be truth.

Go listed to a pentecostal spew his vile hatred of baptists, and likely every other religion and tell me that they are not professing their own views. Or what about that bastard preach from Kansas that protests at funerals of military personnel killed in Iraq.

But hatred and intolerance is the message from all religions, it is just to what degree it is expressed.

I do that. I don't even need religion. If everyone is capable of doing it, why would religion even be necessary?

Well, because of that; not everybody is capable of doing it. Also, some people like church because it's familiar, comforting, a ritual, etc. and that familiarity is what gets them to that "state" where they can commune with God. Or that's what I think.

That would be because we use our brain and power of reason to recognize that deities, gods, etc. are just utter nonsense.

^ ^ ^ There are many things that are "unknown" or can not be proven/unproven, mighty brave of you with that stance.

You say a preacher repackaged his own views as those of God? I am so completely shocked by this, I don't know where to begin.

That's what all preachers are telling you -- God is unknown -- but he knows God, and he's telling you all his worldviews claiming they are straight from God.

What do you think?
