When I think of spirituality, what comes to mind is that which makes me feel alive and present. My answers to questions have changed throughout the years from anxious ones to less anxious ones. For example, my answer to the question about life's purpose is no longer based on a religious belief system. That brought me severe anxiety. Now a calmer answer is to know why I do what I do and to self-reflect on whether the outcome was what I wanted. That has slowed down daily life and has given me a purpose that is both self-centered as well as thoughtful of others.
I favor Bodhidharma's alleged statement on this when he was asked what the basic teaching of Zen was. "Vast emptiness, nothing holy". The minute we start saying that this over here is holy, but this over there is profane, we are already making a big mistake. Those are just points of view, not the truth. The truth is, things just are what they are. Context is everything. So I don't see myself as spiritual or non spiritual. I'm just a guy, and that's fine.
My soul is filling up with God's Divine Love every day. It's such an awesome feeling and I am blessed in more ways than one. I know how much our Heavenly Father loves me, as He loves all of His darling children.
