The Vatican newspaper and radio station are criticizing James Cameron's 3-D blockbuster for flirting with the idea that worship of nature can replace religion – a notion the pope has warned against. They call the movie a simplistic and sappy tale, despite its awe-inspiring special effects.
Benny needs a history lesson.

For far longer in the history of the human race, we were Shamanic/Animistic.

"Nature as a religion" is far older than Jehovah.

A bigger "danger" is those who think being gay and gay-marriage is the ONLY sin there is. I work beside a woman who has 3 kids by her LIVE-IN BOYFRIEND...and she has told me many of times, she is going to Heaven because she believes homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of God and that being gay is "..the only true sin there is...everything else not as sinful" because, again this is according to her....her church and Focus On The Family says so. Wonder what the Pope would say about that? Better yet..what would Jesus think about that?

It said some people are also against the film because it is has an "anti-militaristic" message...and what is wrong with that?!? And no wonder the Vatican is against the worship of nature- you can't offer nature a tithe, and the pope wouldn't want to lose any of his tithing congregation and risk the Catholic church losing the power that comes with being THE wealthiest organization in the world. Probably the same reason he is against gays- since they can't reproduce, they cannot produce offspring, so there goes even more money, along with no new followers. And when the gays die they certainly won't leave their assets to the church, so why not just banish them since they are of no use? Probably the same reason the Pope is against use of birth control. Of course I'm sure most of you know that is why Priests and the higher-ups in the Catholic Church cannot marry- because that way, whatever wealth the men of clergy amass while alive can go straight to the church when they die, since they haven't a family. It's all about money with the Catholic church.

All that aside, I personally cannot for the life of me understand why, in this day and age, ANYONE actually listens to the pope that has even a modicum of education and intellect. Hopefully people are listening less and less and will eventually have no use for a pope at all, if his "reign" continues to be one of bigotry and unrealistic notions about lifestyles for catholics (and anyone else who is within earshot of him). Let's not forget that this is the same guy that condemned the use of condoms for African countries despite the fact that they are rife with AIDS...so this story is no big surprise, he's just showing his arrogance and ignorance as usual.

I don't really think that gay marriage is going to pose any sort of viable threat to humanity itself, but I do think it is one factor among several others that is currently posing a danger to the moral fiber of this country.

Sure, the love between two people sure is immoral.

The Vatican also flipped out over "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

How? How on earth does two people who love each other and want to commit to each other through marriage going to ruin the moral fiber? How will it affect anyones marriage? How is it worse than strip clubs, ***** houses prostitution or porn, which I dont hear anyone hear up in arms about, it is always "those gay people want to marry!" Oh no!!!! Seriously people need to get thier priorities straight.

Moral fiber of this country.

Reality check. There are three hundred million people in this country, in several distinct regions, from every culture on earth.

There is no universal, shared moral fiber in this country. None.

There may be certain behaviors by other people that you do not approve of, but until that behavior directly and immediately threatens you or your property harm, it's none of your business. None.

So how exactly is same sex marriage going to threaten the human race? Are married gays and lesbians seeking nuclear weapons to wipe out heterosexuals?
