That was pretty rude, ShepsMom.

The thread is on former atheists who are now believers and the OP asked kdbirch what he was like prior to being a Christian. Answering a question is not arrogant.
That is exactly a point. He used to be an atheist, he used to never insult anyone who was religious.
Have you, Alpha, read all of his posts? For someone who turned to god from being an atheist, he's pretty arrogant, and if he indeed was an atheist, he should at least know where we stand.

No excuses here.

I've been agnostic but never athiest. I was once well on my way but then I started studying science in college and was just awetruck by the simplest of things that have to be in order for all of this to be. It just doesn't seem like a coincidence that all of this fits together like it does. I see devine fingerprints everywhere when I look at science.

Hmmm....impressive memory Roxolan. I was more agnostic than atheist. If there was a God, I didn't like Him very much and didn't want to know a God that would let such awful things keep happening to me and the world.

But, as the book title goes....there's "No atheists in foxholes".

Hey Sherry,

Are you talking about those who came to city-data as atheists, but have become believers since their time here? I think that's what you meant, right?

If so, I don't think that has happened. Not that they would admit it anyway. Maybe Alpha knows better about this. Even if it hasn't happened, we sure do give them a lot to think about.

I can't speak for all of the posters.....hopefully someone's gotten the message and actually received it....but I don't know of anyone who would confess with their mouths or anything about it.

I often wonder though. I think about the verse...how's it go DotL....'if you confess Me before men, I will confess you before my Father....and if you deny Me, I will deny you'...you know the one, I'm sure.

It would be a great day indeed to read of a life changed by the God of Creation here in these forums.....but with the bickering, judging, and overall blaring noise of this place, I'd be in shock if it ever happened. It's like trying to listen to 20 people speak in 30 different languages....a seeker couldn't get passed the noise, I'm afraid. A hard heart does just fine.

Matthew 10:32
"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.
Matthew 10:33
But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

Yes, it would. Here's what would happen if someone did accept Christ:

Luke 15:7
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Besides, that wasn't a direct reference to an actual foxhole.

You know, the foxholes of life. Why must I explain EVERYTHING.

Hi DOTL!
Nice to see you again! No, I was talking about atheists who have spoken out against God...and tried to convince others He doesn't exist. I was wondering about the "ultimate sin." The one that says once this is done there is no turning back...don't have the scripture in my brain right now. Hope you know what I'm talking about...will look it up later. It would seem to me that some of the people who post on here say pretty awful things about God.....and most of them that I've seen do that are the athiests. Just wondering if anyone who used to do this has turned to God. Not necessarily just the ones who found him since coming here--to CD.

*Wish I could be one of those people who can just quote scripture right and left...but I'm not...in fact I'm just lucky if I remember everyones names! ..lol

You mean that Ozzy Osbourne? Hahaha, hehe.. oh. Wait! Is this what you speak of?

Luke 12:10

"And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
"

Matthew 12:31

"Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."

Oh and by the way, the ultimate sin, great song. I love how they end words with eth...
