So many dying each day but how many births ?

Are we still increasing in number or decreasing in number overall? I was under the impression that fertility rates are dropping and so I guess that birth rates are also dropping. However, some cultures have multiple kids each and some only an average of 1 point something per pair.

Rather sad the Georgia Guide Stones have gone now as they were probably the most public expression of the wish by some to get the population down to 500 million. That would be a good number and would probably mean we did not pollute the Earth nearly so much. It would also mean we put more thought into breeding better human stock.

It is true but at this point all it does is move the population explosion to a later date its still expect to reach 10 to 12 billion and then level out or so they think.Nature also has a way of dealing with species that overrun their habitats and we have certainly done that if we push it its what we should expect.
The estimate is about 385000 babies a day

The UN estimates that around 385,000 babies are born each day around the world (140 million a year). This number will remain relatively stable in the 50 years from 2020 to 2070. From 2070 to 2100, the number will decline to around 356,000 (130 million a year).
The crude birth rate is 18.2 births per 1,000 population or 267 births globally per minute or 4.5 births every second (2018 estimate).
The current world population is growing by about 215,000 people every day. It is projected to hit 8 billion by 2023, 9 billion by 2037, and 10 billion by 2057.

I’ll take cremation. My mother was cremated and her ashes were sent down this little river that was very near the home where she was raised. It was a lovely tribute to her. A few years after her passing, her four children purchased a beautiful metal bench on a bike path near the river. The bench has her name and dates of birth and death. It’s a nice place to visit rather than going to a cemetery.

Not sure where you found this estimate but it is clearly out of date.

"On 15 November 2022, the world’s population reached 8 billion people. While it took the global population 12 years to grow from 7 to 8 billion, it will take approximately 15 years—until 2037— for it to reach 9 billion, a sign that the overall growth rate of the global population is slowing."

Census Bureau puts it at: "The rate of growth peaked decades ago in the 1960s and has been declining since and is projected to continue declining. While it took 12.5 years for the world to go from 7 billion to 8 billion people, we project it will likely take 14.1 years to go from 8 billion to 9 billion, and another 16.4 years to go from 9 billion to 10 billion. Despite a slowdown, we project the world population will reach 10.2 billion by 2060. "

Right now I think that cremation is the most practical choice for me.

Less expensive.

No need for a patch of real estate for my body.

But what does the various religions think of cremation?

Is there anything in the Bible that tells us what should be done? Does it frown upon cremation?
It makes no difference whatsoever whether you are buried or cremated. It's simply a matter of preference.

Hindus cremate the body, so it goes back to the elements that it came from, earth, fire, water, sky, air. Zoroastrians in India leave the body on a terrace for the dead. Vultures feed on the body.

I always thought that was really neat. Not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate it from a philosophical standpoint.
