4) Beer helps me breath more slowly as the alcohol depresses my central nervous system. And I occasionally belch which removes toxins of course. Mostly CO2. And we know that C02 is bad for the atmosphere. Probably isn't good for your insides. Beer helps you get rid of it.

So in my estimation the answer to a person's troubles is more beer.
While I disagree with your use of alcohol or any mind-altering substances, Eddie, I find your cynicism and good-natured sense of humor about it all superior to the self-righteous religious fundamentalism that is so rampant here. Our mundane activities and choices in life DO matter in ways we do not always perceive directly.

For those who struggle,
Be fearless. Everything happens as per order.
Know that you are goodness, joy, and peace, your true nature.
Count your blessings everyday. They are all around you.
Everything is transient; joy, sadness, bonds, emotions, possessions. Dont get attached to them.
The only existence and truth is Divinity.
Surrender to it everyday.

Consider these things no matter your religious beliefs:

1) The best way to honor God is to help your fellow humans....serve and love them. Doing so will give you more meaning and value in your life. Often if you give you receive and doing so will help your soul.

2) Take care of yourself. God wants you to be wise with your body. Get sleep, eat healthier, get exercised, especially outdoors in God's creation. Doing do will help your body and mind.

3) Remember to take time to breathe. Control your breathing. Slow...steady....sure....

4) Spend time in nature just sitting in silence...find thoughts....find a connection to the universe.

5) Remember that we are all created from the same universal matter. That atoms inside of you were once a part of or inside of past humans including historical figures...were once a part of past animals and even dinosaurs. We are all one and connected through creation and our shared matter. We all have similar interests and feelings...you're no different. We're all the same.

Any other ideas from other posters?

I don't disagree, and I'm sure your belief has helped you, and held you in good stead.

Just know though that all the same things are just as true without a belief in a god.

Here's a favourite quote of mine by Ricky Gervais:

Quote:
Do unto others…’ is a good rule of thumb. I live by that. Forgiveness is probably the greatest virtue there is. But that’s exactly what it is - a virtue. Not just a Christian virtue. No one owns being good. I’m good. I just don’t believe I’ll be rewarded for it in heaven. My reward is here and now. It’s knowing that I try to do the right thing. That I lived a good life. And that’s where spirituality really lost its way. When it became a stick to beat people with. ‘Do this or you’ll burn in hell.’ You won’t burn in hell. But be nice anyway.

Considering the harm addiction does to the self, body and mind, and the wreckage of lives it leaves behind, intoxication is not a joke. Recovering from it is not joke. Staying sober is no joke. Saying that is not self-righteous or religious fundamentalism. These are painful lessons learned from the experience of the addiction and recovery process one's own loved ones have endured. Sobriety is a daily test.

For those who come here from that place, keep your faith, stick to the 12 steps, stay in contact with your sponsor, practice your religion, surrender to Divinity. You WILL regain you wholeness. We are rooting for you.

Kind of like this. https://youtu.be/okTHBHwdaW0
I appreciate the sentiment, I do. However, religion is not the only way to inner peace and contentment. I was simply offering up other ways to feel good about oneself and be encouraged that things will get better, no religion required.

Ah, so you are reading my posts. That ignore button doesn't quite work when someone quotes them. What difference does it make whether I'm into what JASG said? This thread is not about me or YOU. Always something negative to say and you offer nothing. Just a smarty pants remark full of hate.

Reader, please ignore stuff like this. What SimpleGuy said is just as legitimate as any other belief. It is the reader's choice and we are here to offer up our ways of getting through. I had written a post that expressed things about some of the posters here but it disappeared. Please, please, please, if you are reading this, understand that everyone here does not have your best interest at heart.

Just be careful who you tell things to. I can guarantee it will be used against you at some point. Send me a DM, I will point you in the right direction. No, I'm not a therapist but I am a good listener.

This right here.^^^^ A sense of humor helps your situation tremendously. For those of you here that don't get it, doesn't matter because the important people do. I haven't read the rest of thread yet but I guarantee that what Eddie said is correct....beer helps.

But, if drinking is your escape, then you REALLY need to talk to me.

"Problem"? I have no problem. You do. With me and with atheists in general. You are hateful, spiteful and are ruining a good thread. Go away.
