A version of this question is being asked anew every other day here, it seems. It IS an important question.
My $0.02 is that we absolutely have free will to make any decisions we want. But at the same time, God already knows what we will decide, as there are no time boundaries for Him. So, while we are making our decisions freely, everything unfolds in accordance with His plan for us. The Plan already knows what we will decide at various stages of our life. Predestination, if you will.

I guess I have never believed in predestination or that we are fated, even doomed, to wind up in any particular circumstance. So it's a curious concept to me.
For example, I don't think that an innocent baby is born doomed to shoot up a school one day. That isn't part of any kind of a divine plan, that is something a person does of their own free will.
Yes. Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Mary was predestined to have Jesus. There was never a chance she wasn't going to.
Just like you are now where God wants you to be, because he put you there.
So if someone dumps a litter of kittens onto your front porch it is your destiny to raise and care for them whether you want cats or not? That was God's intended plan for you?

Whatever you choose to do is what God wanted you to do.
Whatever you choose to do is what God wanted you to do.
So if I keep them or raise them or drop them off at a shelter or tie them in a garbage bag and dump them in the river, it's because God wanted me to do that?
That is certainly not what I've raised my children to think.
God is love so of course he wants us to love our spouse and even if we become incompatible and had to split up He would want us to treat each other with fairness.
I don't think that God demands that we stay with a spouse that we no longer love.
I love my husband and he loves me which makes me feel very blessed. Not all are so fortunate.
