Sunni Islam - 22.39%
Catholic - 16.88%
Protestant - 11.41%
The OP noted "Christians". That's about a third of the world.
Add in the other Abrahamic Religions and you have the majority of the world.
People feel stronger in a collective...especially one that big.
>>About 85% of the world's people identify with a religion. The most popular religion is Christianity, followed by an estimated 2.38 billion people worldwide. Islam, which is practiced by more than 1.91 billion people, is second.<<

Well, if you believe in "superiority in numbers", then good for you. I don't hold numbers of believers to be a valid measurement of being the "best" religion; it just means (to me) that Christians are the most aggressive at proselytizing their beliefs. Personally, I don't believe that beliefs should be forced on other people, which has been done in the past (i.e. the Crusades, the Inquisition, etc.). I let other people believe as they want, since there are many paths to G-d.

It's not a matter of "what I believe in". It is a matter of the reality of how the world typically works.
"Numbers" do not always impart "superiority"...just usually. Especially when you have numbers of that magnitude.
The OP notes what some may feel is their position in the grand scheme. Being part of a group that is so immense and has such power, will influence how one views where they stand in that grand scheme.
What you believe should or shouldn't be done is inconsequential to how it actually is.
Oh, and...you cannot "force beliefs on others"...people can, and will, believe whatever they do...no matter what is done to them.
You can control what people will declare to avoid negative repercussions, or modify behavior...but "Beliefs" will remain whatever they are, no matter what.

Numbers usually imparts superiority? Really? I guess I always preferred quality over quantity.
I know what the phrase usually means, just not sure what it means in regard to this thread
It means Christianity is superior because they are the largest religious community, at least in this country. Colloquially, it means they "rule" because they can swing the largest and most powerful you-know-what, religion-wise.

Then in some nations Buddhism is superior. In other nations Islam is superior.
Somehow I don't think christians would say that.
