In 1822 a bible translator compared side by side Greek and English NT-a god, small g in the last line at John 1:1--he was 100% correct. There were many other translations in history as well. Only rejected by trinitarians who live in darkness of the religion that came out of Romes translating. Their own encyclopedia teaches-the apostles knew nothing of a trinity God. Total denial of not even saying Church but Rome. Cannot deny God and Spirit had to be upon those who assembled the bible and chose the books to be part of it. JWs still use this Bible despite their subtle changes that alter Doctrines and interpretations.
Makes little sense to totally deny the Church then... yet utilize their most basic feat. The Bible as we came to know it born. Few in that era had any reading skills to read it. The early Church revealed lessons in art and paintings and in Catholicism the statues and carvings too.

Also in unity was to get past debate on "Jehovah" to a preferred by many "Yahweh" from the remnant left to the Hebrews. To me ..... to even claim a god to possibility of other gods, is far more Pagan. Although the Catholic Church did take a Trinity/Triun ONE GOD, to a mystical/mystery concept.
The use was far more about ONLY ONE GOD and also no other gods beside him. The Son and Spirit were not taught as other gods to tie it into Pagan religions.
Old hymns still have Jehovah in and still sung as written.

A bible translator in the 1800s given some credit even iver centuries of others and those who assembled the early Bible. Add a NWT bible to add changes with still some since it was translated.
So many divisions and NEW SECTS with a carasmatic leader arose in the 1800s. Millerites to Russelites to JWs. Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) Christen Science, Pentecostals on and on.
JWs and datesetting were all thru its early growth by believers. Even selling all or giving it away to await Jesus return by dates set. Finally even indirect datesetting beliefs of new ones ended 80s 90s. They were ALLOWED TO GO THRU KINGDOM HALLS. without the heavy Watchtower arm denying it. Then denying it was officially declared as dates came and went .... just par for the course as a Idiom meaning - just what one might expect.

After the death of Charles Russell in 1916, Joseph Rutherford became the president of the Watchtower Society. Under Rutherford the apocalyptic prediction continued. Add the irony of Charles Tazz Russel being a Mason for years. Denied by JWS basically as more fabrication by Christendom. Yet his Gravesight memorial still has the Masonic symbols on it with a pyramid shaped memorial and his Gravesight there and Memorial overlook a Masonic Temple next to the cemetery and grave.
I do not thing JWS do much revering of the gravesight nor pilgramages of faithful. Might be seen as elevating a man... though Rutherford was part of early Watchtower of his creation. So he clearly should be part of the annoited ones of the 144,000 to them that only out of their flock are taken thru to today possible?
My only visit to a Kingdom Hall Service was a Passover one. A table with dishes on the stage and no partaking of any bread/wine. Seems only Watchower can. Much different than Catholic revereing and belief of transubstaciation aspect or as other Churces see it as a memorial yet literally faithful can partake doing it in remembrance of the Christ
