My late Mother in Law was a JW and my family are ethnic Jews. She was not sucessful and my family are not rich.

If you are lookingfor religion to make you rich or scucessful aim at becoming either an evangelical television pastor or start a religion from scratch. You probably do not need to even believe to do either.
I gave this post a point. I agree with this 100%.

I was also amused by grong.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not supposed to say the word "lucky". It's a no-no.

I spent the first 18 years of my life as a JW. I never considered myself lucky or any other JW's lucky. Some were richer, some poorer, but we all had to sit in the horrible Kingdom hall with no windows. What was that all about? No daydreaming allowed.

I finally got kicked out at 18 because I told my girl friend that I didn't understand the problem with rock music, which I loved and still love to this day. Her unbaptized brother was sitting in the next room, out of sight, listening to our conversation. I was disfellowshipped due to apostasy. The next day, I was told to leave home and never come back. For 50 years I've had little to no contact with my family. Fortunately I married into a wonderful, welcoming family who love me more then my family ever did!

The Bible is very open that some people are blessed and some people are cursed. Some nations are blessed, some are cursed. Some bloodlines are blessed and some are cursed. Additionally the Bible is very transparent that those who donate, or give will receive much more in return. To they donate? I have no idea, but its a possiblity.

If there's anything more messed up than the concept of sin, it's the concept of group sin.

This is some fascinating cherry picking and confirmation bias.

I think that is how they justify the genocide in the Bible.

I can't get onboard with any religion that teaches its adherents to shun non-believers.

My wife was raised a Witness - her mother, if she was completely observant, would not speak to or interact with her. Thankfully, her mom and step-dad are not that observant. However, they risk being "disfellowshipped" themselves if someone from the congregation knew they were still associating with my wife even after she left the church.

No bueno.

I believe the " prosperity gospel" is a cancer in the body of Christ.

To presume that material wealth is a blessing is nonsensical on its face.
