In other words, you don't think it's possible that certain sea creatures evolved to become land animals?

Look at it this way...

Why do Human have a tail bone?
Why do Humans have an appendix?

I dont think "God" had anything to do with it, it is leftover from what we used to be

Thank you! The god hypothesis, as far as I'm concerned, is just a weak one, with no empirical evidence to back it up. While it's certainly comforting to think about, the reality is that "he" probably doesn't exist.

Despite my being firmly secular:

I truly feel there is a 'higher power' out there for want of a better term.

Even if said power is nothing more than a form of electro-mechanical energy........

Well, we know something can't come from nothing. The universe as we know it is about 14 billion years old, and the matter within it began expanding. The question is, what existed before this "big bang", and what energy source created this explosion.

You did point out that something (certainly the universe and life itself) cannot come from nothing. If so, what do you think created it?

Default senescent

Yes I believe in evolution. Are there probably some flaws in evolution? Yeah. But I still believe that it is the how man was slowly created.

In my personal view on the spiritual and evolution. I put it like this.

Everything we see around us, including us are made of the elements of the universe. In essence. We are senescent pieces of the universe trying to understand itself. I think it a really privilege to be alive and to (hopefully) understand what's going on around me.

This is one of the things that evolution makes me wonder about. You said that "man was slowly created". The evolution process never stops. So you would be left wondering, where is this "evolving man" caught somewhere between modern day man and "future man." The evolutionary theory relies heavily on time, lots of time, millions of years of time. It helps explain away and hide its flaws.
