I say goodbye and good riddance to a cranky, corrupt man who, when we look at him, should remind us of Jerry Sandusky with bad clothing.

I agree. But this is why....

Pope Benedict was the final Pope. Now the Catholics practice will pick a college of cardinals. A group of popes who will share papal duties.

Colour me surprised. I was raised Catholic and always thought the Pope hung around 'til death.

I'm long-lapsed but developed a grudging admiration for John Paul ll's humility and humanity. Benedict struck me as a cold fish, though. I kinda' doubt even hardcore Catholics will miss him.

Pray that we get another John XXIII to lead the Church out of darkness.

Good riddance to an evil man leading a corrupt organization. I bet that they replace him with a similarly evil man.

I do not think that you have understood the article you link.

The pope has always been elected by a conclave of cardinals. All this article mentions is that there are a few more Americans in the college of cardinals than in the past.

There will still be an election, some out of touch, medieval thinking guy will get the nod, and life will continue on as before.
