"And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."

Was that directed towards everyone or just the apostles?

Good question.

So if I ask God for a pound of meth, will He say yes my child?

I think God has brain.

There's you answer. You will NOT necessarily receive what you ask for, so the Bible passages that assure you that you will require a bit of interpretation.

Suppose you actually 'Find' a pound of meth, will you suppose God said 'Yes' or just suppose that you were lucky?

This part of the bible is like the Verimark™ claims.

Verimark™ wants to sell you a product that is supposed to perform in a certain way (ask and ye shall receive) But wait there is more (offers of a limited time offer of extras you probably did not bargain for)

The product fails to deliver as advertised (answered prayers) but now you are stuck with the extras you did not want (sucking up and going to church every Sunday, tithing, getting involved in church activities) and none of them make the original product work but you are conned into believing your faith is not strong enough, you must simply believe.

Problem is like with Verimark™, by the time you realise this, the warranty has expired so you are left with a product that failed to deliver/perform as advertised and you are left with only unwanted extras (the "but wait, there's more")

Christianity is even more perverse than Verimark™ as with Verimark™ you actually get to hold a dysfunctional product. The church sells you cosmic real estate and you only get the deed of sale once you are dead.

Now THAT is a pretty neat fool proof con job.

Even the toddlers know ....Ask and tho shall receive is for grace toward peace, acceptance and becoming closer toward the sanctification, not things.

Hmm I guess "...whatever you ask for in my name" is a mistranslation. Care to start a campaign to get that removed from the bible?

Well...

When you are asking for something in someone's name,
it is certainly asked in their honor. We know.

If you ask for something in the honor of Jesus
It is surely given to be in honor, of the sacrifice.

The only honorable grant supposable,
would be together within and not beyond, it's intended resolve for all.

I think people today forget something. These people pretty much knew
there was an after life, the internal evolving limb. There weren't joker's going around
upsetting people who bag groceries for a living and telling them they are .."for not" ( on line, TV etc etc...

With this full evolving knowledge , the phrase was implied to suppose the life
was lived in earnest , within the Christian approach.
Whatever you ask in my name then, is in the understanding of a life lived
in the Christian theme, at the end of time. This is very obvious.

No this is not obvious. If what you stated (apologetic) is the truth, simply update the bible to then say that.

My Vermark™ translation is far more accurate than your rendition here.

When Verimark™ advertises, we all know they are making claims that are unsubstantiated (lies)

The real truth is, NO ONE actually recorded his sayings so we are pretty much free (as just demonstrated) to make whatever you want up. This is called mental gymnastics.

Christianity is for suckers that continue to buy from Verimark™ even with all the failure to deliver as advertised products.

Asking for stuff here is not material wealth and stuff like a Ferrari, simple stuff like protection of a kid that then gets killed in an accident, a prayer for a cure from a disease that never happens.

The text would be better rendered;

Whatever you ask for in my name, I really cannot do as I am only a human. OR list the things that this prayer excludes (that would be a pretty long list seeing that failure to deliver far outweighs the coincidental of answered prayers)

But of course that does not have the pizzas of the original now does it?

Bait has to appear appealing, that is how advertisers work their magic.

Something like this;

The world got a little wiser since the 50's, so sad many Americans have not cottoned onto that yet.
