Now that's some of the Army in you talking! I can imagine it will be very exciting to come back to the states after all of this time. I lived in Germany for two years and came to love it so much there. I'm sure things have changed quite a bit since I was there. I did return in 2000 and stayed for a week in Mannheim before traveling to Finland. It was a blast.

Like the old saying goes..."You can take the man out of the military, but you can't take the military out of the man."

I am definitely excited about returning back to the US. Things in Germany are starting to take a turn for the worse. Only about 33% of the population even wants us here anymore. Their social system is eroding due to the large influx of immigrants into their borders and it is causing many of locals to become very disgruntled. And the Euro is absolutely kicking our teeth in. Just imagine being taxed 36-38% on everything you do.

However, the Bavarian Alps are still absolutely gorgeous and the Germans still know how to throw a Fest. Definitely a place to visit in the future, but no longer a place to live.

Ain't that the truth. That's too bad about the situation there now. I heard it was like that.

Speaking of Fests; even though you'll be quite a ways away in Lawton, Tulsa has one of the top Oktoberfests in the US and the USA Today ranked it as one of the top ten places in the world to attend an Oktoberfest.

AskMen.com - Oktoberfest in America

Tulsa Oktoberfest 2007

From the tulsa oktoberfest website:

"Bands from Germany, Austria and the U.S. provide non-stop entertainment each day of the festival."

A pretty good tv news spot on the fest.

Thanks for those links. I came across some of the same information this weekend while I was researching OK. Being married to a full blooded German Fräulein, you can bet we will be there each year. Makes for a great weekend getaway. Wow, look at that. Not even in Oklahoma yet, and I am already planning out our yearly activities.

Harry, sorry to hear that things are turning out that way over there. Hopefully all our servicemen can just come home soon. Just hope some of those places remember how they don't want us there when they're having problems or when they need $$.

But back on topic~The pic of Lawton totally surprised me. I had no idea that it looked like that. Guess I thought it was just a plain smaller Ok town.

Synopsis, as usual, you always come through with some very nice pics and links.

JameeLynn, you're very welcome. Wish I had more that I could share with you.

Oh Jammie, the pic that I believe you are talking about is Tulsa, not Lawton. Sorry for the miscue!
