another example of these taxing authorities getting increasingly desperate for more funds. Not sure where it all ends. City services grow more expensive every year. City officials are fulfilling the will of the people that voted them into office. Eventually wants versus needs will have to be addressed. A lot of bitterness to follow.
And this is just the beginning. When this starts to cause back flow traffic in other parts of the city sayyyyy above 60th st or parts of Brooklyn because people are trying too avoid driving through the paid area, guess what the city will do? Expansion time!
Hey is your neighborhood full of cars all of a sudden??!?! more Toll readers!

Like there's anywhere to park your car above 60th Street

NYC losing money due to spending more to house homeless and immigrants. Gotta make that loss of money back somehow so tax the residents with some new idea. Always count on local of fed govt's bad spending losses to become your loss sooner or later.

If it does reduced congestion then it wouldn’t meet their financial goals. If cars really do stop going into the city it will be a huge political fallout for Hochul and the state will have to scramble trying to tax people using other ways and that will be the end of her run. I don’t think she would be reelected the next time without major concessions or improvements in NYC. She’s done so much harm to the middle class and the poor already by welcoming these migrants and raising use taxes like this without any help for the middle and poor.
On the day this starts maybe drivers should go down into the subways, get on the tracks and bring the entire system to a grinding halt. Do this every day, day after day, until congestion pricing is rescinded.
So there are protests anll over country for some reason about foreign affairs, yet no protests in Ny about people here getting shafted.
Those protesting don't have jobs so have plenty of time to protest. Some are being paid.
Those affected most by the congestion pricing are busy working so they can afford to pay the tax. They are also working to support their offspring who have plenty of time to protest the "cause du jour".
I’ll start parking above the congestion zone and take a 15 min subway ride downtown. $6 beats $15 and the avoiding long stretches on the subway is priceless.
Reduce traffic and travel time
Lead to safer streets and cleaner air
Reduce emissions
Improve quality of life
Can we sue if they fall through on all 4?
My opinion:
The Bronx will suffer irreparable harm.
The carbon footpring will only be transferred to the Bronx because most people
are going to come thru the Bronx to avoid paying.
The city is aware and already setting up shop to study how noise and pollution is going to affect the community.
