Certainly Mayor Adams was part of that regime and knows how to use these tools. The problem is the woke mobs have taken over the city.

All of the taxpayers money today is being redistributed towards the corrupt poor class. In other countries the poor pays their fair share because they have dignity. The problem today is there's no repercussions to criminal behavior. But it all will balance itself out. Nothing stays imbalanced forever.

Countries like where?

Hopefully, if they are smart. My CO was flabbergasted when I told him I was retiring immediately after the St. Floyd riots. I told him straight up that I refused to ever again - as a cop - deal with certain demographics.

Risk jail or collect my pension? Easiest big decision I've ever made.

This link shows that catching farebeaters works to get criminals off the streets. But everyone has known that since the "broken windows" days, we just need to remind the people in charge

The city doesn’t want to solve the problem of fare evasion because the majority of fare evasion is committed black and Hispanic residents. The Bronx has the highest fare evasion rate in all of NYC. It is basically another public assistance program which costs the MTA $700MM/year. It’s not a difficult issue to solve if the city actually wanted to solve it.

Any self respecting human will now lower himself by not paying a measly fare. It’s the uncultured that don’t have that problem.

A sense of entitlement. Usually, it’s those who get the most free of charge who have the most entitlement. The more you give, the more they take.

Hochul has just set out the plans for misdemeanor and felony charges for those who evade congestion charges.

As the congestion charge is part of the MTA funding--- there is absolutely no reason all MTA fare/toll evasions should not be handled equally.

Jump the train turnstyle.
Run the toll.

Same punishments.

Fair is fair.

It's not politically popular to prosecute fare-beaters.

The prosecution part of the new proposal is a distraction.

Look behind the curtain. This proposal will help the MTA raise north of $100MM. They’re desperate for money and they’re literally new laws on top of existing laws that they don’t even enforce. They want the money, not more bodies in jail.
